Is this a hand-drawn pen and ink drawing or a vector logo? Well, a little bit of both. We created this logo as a pen drawing but then re-created it as a vector file so that it is scalable and more versatile – like all logos should be.

A new idea that we have been batting around for the last few years is finally starting to come together. The first stop, identity of course. I virtually cross stitched for two days to accomplish this look which starts to bring our aesthetic for this project into focus. Stay tuned for further developments in the coming months!

Including a logo clean up, we also designed all the pieces within this promotional mailer for Picotte Photography. Suthi, the companies owner and creative force wanted a package to mail to wedding planners, prospective venues and other vendors to introduce her services in advance of the 2010 wedding season.

New Logo
Old Logo by Shannon Mocabee
We recently completed the logo refresh for Picotte Photography. We did a general clean up and balancing to the mark and text as a unit. Here is what we changed and why we did it.
To begin, we worked on the Picotte font and letters. You will notice that we elongated the arm of the P, bridged the minute space between the two Ts and matched the tail of the e with the curve of the c. These all brought the balance and harmony of the word Picotte as a whole and made it a little bit more distinctive.
Next we completely changed the font for Photography. Ours is more modern and compact with no serifs (sans-serif). The curves that make up the Picotte font and the Photography font now match more closely and feel more like a set. We also added more breathing room between the two words and placed Photography a little more cooperatively within the space.
Lastly, we tackled the bloom. The original was a little fussy towards the middle and felt a little off balance. We subtracted some petals, added a few and reshaped some others to create a more clear and steady counter weight to the text while maintaining an organic, non-symmetrical feel. We again gave it some more breathing room and placed the little circle strategically to match the spacing of Photography relative to Picotte.
To some up the main theme of this clean up in a few words: create clarity, cleanness and breathing room. All together these elements make up a modern, elegant and inviting logo.

Over a year ago, we created a logo set, icon set and early interface prototypes for CareSeek / Nurses Recommend Doctors.
Yesterday, they were featured in a news piece about doctor research online by Los Angeles’s ABC7. I just happen to be watching when it came on and excitedly grabbed a few screen shots of our work (thanks Tivo!).

Most logos are made from vector imagery, for this one, we decided to utilize the forest as an image to create a strong pictoral identity. The client chose this version that was created from a photo that we took on one of our many vacations to Hawaii.

This company had a super tight deadline, no identity and needed a full promo package… within 1 week!! We delivered a suite of pieces branding them with their newly created company identity. We carried that over into their product line, SecureWare so that the two logos work together and feel like a logical extension of the other.
